Summary
In 1933 the Edward Peterson Post 98, of Rockport, MA, built a 27 foot replica float of Motif No. 1 for the 15th Annual Convention of the American Legion parade at the Chicago World's Fair. Rockport Art Association members designed the float, and townspeople contributed materials and labor. The float was driven 1,200 miles to Chicago where it won first place in the historic float competition. 4,500 people greeted the float on its return to Rockport
